Vikram dazzles in Karikalan first look

Back with the success of Deiva Thirumagal, Vikram is ready to dazzle with his new avatar. The actor, who is busy with his next movie Rajapattai, has simultaneously started his another project Karikalan. Vikram will be seen in the historical role of Karikalan Chola, one of the popular Tamil kings of early Chola during the Sangam period. He will be reportedly pairing up Bollywood actress Zarine Khan, who will be enacting the character of Velir girl. Now, we are bringing you the first look of Karikalan. Karikalan is directed by Kannan and jointly produced by SS Vasan and S Parthi. It has Vijay Anthony's music and N Karthik's cinematography. The movie also features Vimala Raman, Pasupathi and Shanmugarajan in the cast.

Pattathu Yaanai-Vishal Comedy Entertainer

Pandian, of course, makes "Pattathu Yaanai" a much better action-comedy than several other films of recent past in the same genre. He doesn't fail to entertain us at regular intervals by reminding how well can Santhanam be used even in the most serious scenes. Humour is also derived from the villains towards the end and this works in the film's favour because few more action sequences might have bored the audiences. Pandian understood the film is a comedy entertainer at heart and even though the 'mass factor' overshadows it, we still see momentary spurts of humour throughout. If there's one thing that makes this film a terrible watch, then it definitely is the romantic angle featuring Vishal and Aishwarya. There is absolutely no soul in their relationship and needless to say, we're forced to see an actress making a bad debut. Aishwarya is stone-faced in most scenes and looks artificial with more makeup. In all fairness to her, it was a useless role that was sabotaged by her own bad performance. I was glad that the makers didn't include one final song to celebrate the triumph of their relationship after Vishal beats up all the baddies in the climax. Vishal was good and showed much maturity in his performance while proving he is good at comedy too. I haven't enjoyed watching Santhanam before as much as I did in this film. He wasbrilliant and proves it's the director who messes up his roles in other films where he is mostly seen mouthing dialogues that are considered toilet humour. "Pattathu Yaanai" is an underestimated film that delivers beyond expectations, barring the romantic escapades of Vishal and Aishwarya. You should totally watch it.

Mariyaan Great Experiance by the Audience

Maryan is loved and longed by Panimalar (Parvathy), but sadly her feelings are not reciprocated. The more Maryan tries to keep Pani away from him, the closer she tries to get. This eventually leads to Maryan falling for Pani. Panimalar is caught in unfortunate circumstances and to support her financially, Maryan is forced to take up employment on contract basis for two years in Sudan. He successfully completes his tenure and packs bags in jubilation to return to his ladylove, but tragedy strikes in the form of Sudanese terrorists, who end up kidnapping Maryan and two of his co-workers and demand money for their freedom. After 21 days in captivity, Maryan escapes and runs for his life. Will he able to meet Panimalar again or not form the rest of the story. Playing a character suffering is not new for Dhanush, who has played such characters several times on the screen. However, what differentiates "Maryan" from his other films is that Dhanush has an equally strong co-star Parvathy, who at times looks too intelligent in her role, in the film. Typically, films starring Dhanush turn out to be a one-man show, but director Bharatbala deserves credit for giving us a stronger female character. It's not for the underdog you root here, it's for Parvathy, who believes in Maryan forever. The first half of the film is a tribute to love. I haven't seen a better build up of a love story in the Tamil cinema, so poignantly touching, in a long time. The romance between Dhanush and Parvathy comes alive on screen with a hint of charisma and passion. A fisherman's strength is in the ocean reference works brilliantly in favour of the film. You appreciate it only when you reach the climax. In that instant, you want to cheer for the director for developing his lead characters flawlessly. "Maryan" is technically brilliant. Be it the scenes in the fishing hamlet or in Sudan, where even the driest desert looks stunning, these scenes never fail to dazzle you every instant.
